Awards, honors, and appointments recently received by University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine faculty.
Amy Dowden, MD, clinical associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine–Immunology, has been elected to a two-year term as the internal medicine councilor on the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology Program Directors Assembly.
Adrian Holm, DO (10F), clinical associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine–Gastroentology and Hepatology, has been selected as the 2021 recipient of the Mark Wolcott Award for Excellence in Clinical Care Delivery. It's the highest honor given to providers in the Veterans Affairs Health Care System.
Julia Klesney-Tait, MD, PhD, associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine–Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medicine, has been appointed to the national Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network Lung Transplantation Committee.
Wendy Maury, PhD, professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, has been appointed to the Mark Stinski Chair in Virology. Maury, who joined the Carver College of Medicine faculty in 1999, is an internationally recognized leader in virology research, with expertise in the molecular and cellular interaction of enveloped viruses with the host.
Jeffrey Murray, MD, professor in the Department of Pediatrics, and Stanley Perlman, MD, PhD, professor in the Department of Microbiology and Immunology, were among six University of Iowa faculty who received a Regents Award for Faculty Excellence from the Board of Regents, State of Iowa.
Robert Westermann, MD, assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Rehabilitation, was one of six orthopedic surgeons selected to participate in the Arthroscopy Association of North America Advanced Arthroscopy Traveling Fellowship Program for 2021. The program is recognized as the paramount educational experience for aspiring young surgeons in sports medicine and arthroscopy.
Joseph Zabner, MD, professor in the Department of Internal Medicine and director of the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Occupational Medicine, has been awarded the 2021 Recognition Award for Scientific Accomplishment by the American Thoracic Society.
