Full scope of orthopedics care
The North Liberty campus includes orthopedic clinical and surgical services across the complete range of musculoskeletal subspecialties—spine, trauma, joint, sports medicine, hand, elbow/shoulder, foot/ankle, pediatrics, and bone health, and oncology. It also features a walk-in clinic for acute orthopedic injuries with weekday, evening, and Saturday morning hours.
Surgical services include 12 operating rooms with state-of-the-art technology, including surgical robotics, and shelled spaced for four additional ORs. There is also a designated areas for preoperative and post-anesthesia care. Additionally, two rooms are designed and built for procedures that don’t require an operating room—carpal tunnel release procedures, trigger finger treatments, or lumbar injections, for example.
The inpatient unit includes 36 beds. The proximity of the ORs to the inpatient care areas will make the post-surgery transfer of patients to their rooms easy for staff and patients. Each inpatient room includes technology for cross-disciplinary telehealth consultations with specialists—in cardiology or urology, for example—at the university campus.

Easy access and a patient-centered design
The North Liberty campus is approximately 1.5 miles from Interstate 380, with surface-level parking next to the building; valet parking also is available. The campus, which features a three-level hospital and five-level medical office building, offers greater access and convenience for patients. Patient care areas are designed with patients in mind—including onstage/offstage configurations so that patients are separated from staff workspaces and paths of travel.
Wayfinding within the building is intuitive, and patient flow within the building supports a seamless experience. For example, diagnostic imaging is integrated into each clinic floor—after check-in patients needing imaging can get an X-ray or other scan and then proceed directly to their exam room. A dedicated discharge exit will allow patients to depart the facility privately.
All inpatient rooms are private, with ample space for family members. On-demand room service, bedside entertainment, and other amenities will help make a hospital stay more comfortable for patients and family members.
