Stephanie Gantz, PhD
Assistant Professor, Molecular Physiology and Biophysics 

Gantz was one of two recipients of the 2025 Early Career Scholar of the Year by the University of Iowa Office of the Vice President for Research. Gantz is an expert in ion channel research, a field in which she has made landmark discoveries. 

Kari Harland, PhD, MPH 
Assistant Professor, Emergency Medicine 

Harland received the 2025 John F. Sanford Award from the Iowa Medical Society. The award goes to a researcher, advocate, or non-physician specialist for contributions to public health. 

Darren Hoffmann, PhD, MPH

Hoffmann was one of four University of Iowa faculty members to receive the 2025 President and Provost Award for Teaching Excellence. The award is the university’s highest honor for teaching. 

Brooks Jackson, MD, MBA 
Professor, Pathology 

Jackson received the 2025 Distinguished Medical School Alumni Award from the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Jackson is the former University of Iowa vice president for medical affairs and dean of the Carver College of Medicine. He led the Johns Hopkins Department of Pathology from 2001-2014.

Perlman was elected as a 2025 member of the National Academy of Sciences for his distinguished and continuing achievements in original research.

Piper was one of four University of Iowa faculty members who were named 2024 fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. 

David Stoltz, MD, PhD

Stoltz was inducted into the Association of American Physicians for his achievements in academic medical research, particular in the field of cystic fibrosis and other lung diseases.
